THE LATEST FIGMA FEATURES

Every year, thousands of designers gather Config Figma's annual flagship conference where all the latest is revealed. And this year? An update was shared that even in KOLLAB we had to take an extra sip of coffee to digest.

Figma has launched “Site” –, a gamechanger that makes it possible to design, build and publish responsive websites directly in Figma.

Yep, you read that right.

No code. No export. No intermediate bills.

Just click, publish and beyond.

We caught up with our own design star Victoria to hear what it means in practice – both for everyday life as a designer and for the business:

“This is an important step for us designers. In the past, we spent a lot of time ensuring that the finished result matched the design we had worked towards together with the customer and the users. Now it becomes easier to maintain quality all the way from idea to implementation – without compromising on either aesthetics or user focus,” tells Victoria.

What is Figma Site – and why should you as a company pay attention?

Figma Site is a whole new way of thinking about web development. Because instead of designing one place, building another and fixing to a third, you can now gather the whole process in one place.

And it provides value.

Not just for the design team, but also for your entire company's business:

  • Design and build websites in one place – without jumping between tools
When the entire process is assembled in Figma, you save time and avoid friction points. This means fewer errors and faster workflows – and that your team can focus on creating value, not handling handovers.
  • Use existing components from your design libraries
Recycling well-tested components ensures uniformity in your brand – while reducing the time it takes to build new pages. It is both reliable and scalable.
  • See your website in real time, like real HTML/CSS
No guesswork. You see exactly how your site will look and behave – already in the design phase. This means fewer corrections and better decision-making bases, also for those without a technical background.
  • Publish with one click and connect your own domain
The fast publishing makes it easy to test, launch and customize – without waiting for development resources to become available. It significantly shortens time-to-market.
  • Create interactive effects such as hover-states, parallax and draggable elements
You can add modern functionality directly to the – design without the need for coding. It provides more vibrant and engaging user experiences that can be realized immediately.

It's not just smart – it's also effective. Victoria tries to put a few words to that:

”From an economic perspective, it is also quite interesting. When you save development hours and avoid iteration hassle, you must expect to have a solution that is both faster, cheaper and closer to the original design,” she elaborates.

Why does Figma ”Site” matter to your business?

Imagine that your next website still starts as a wireframe, but now Figma makes the code snippet herself, so that it is all developed and published in one and the same place. It suggests an official farewell to both bottlenecks and misunderstandings between design and development. And without having to juggle five different tools and two additional project managers.

This is exactly what Figma Site makes possible.

Figma's new big investment is more than a feature: in more detail, we are talking about a new approach to how digital experiences are created. You get control, coherence and speed in one integrated solution. And yes, you can use your existing components, create interactive elements and publish directly from Figma. It may require a little more than one click, but far fewer of this kind than you are used to.

This isn't just about spoiling the designers (although of course they deserve it). It's about lifting the entire business:

  • You get from idea to live solution faster
  • You minimize mistakes and misunderstandings along the way
  • You get a sharper link between what is thought – and what is delivered
  • And you save development hours that would otherwise be spent patching, translating or rethinking what was already designed

That very value is unmistakable, according to Victoria. She points out how the new workflow not only makes work easier – but also smarter and far more business-friendly.

The design expert in KOLLAB concludes:

”The best part is that we can now build digital experiences faster, make them easier to maintain – and still make them look damn good. With Site, we get a solution that embraces both design and business – without relaxing any of the parts”.
