Unique furniture

One of the ways you can increase your growth and earnings without simultaneously increasing your turnover or your staff is by making costly processes and work routines easier or completely removing them from the employees' table. The furniture company Unique Furniture in Kolding has had that experience.

Challenge:  Unique Furniture lacked a scalable and coherent digital foundation, creating rising administrative costs, a lack of management overview and limiting the company's ability to scale the business effectively.

A digital transition

Unique Furniture designs, manufactures and supplies furniture to a number of retail chains and furniture stores worldwide. They faced a challenge where the business quickly overtook the systems and a digital transition was needed. There had to be a smarter way – and this is where we come into the picture. Among the new digital initiatives is the use of so-called ”office robots”, also called RPA.
The focus was to delineate tasks with a relatively large volume. The tasks that were not too complex and could therefore be handled with adjustments to a standard solution that had already been developed. In this way, you would quickly be able to achieve positive results and thus gain some experience to work on. Everything is based on Microsoft Business Central and the Power Platform, which means already developed to one degree or another, so that it can easily support Unique Furniture's special needs.

The technical finesse

Based on Microsoft's standard solutions, there was therefore no need for large initial investments and long development processes. The RPA payroll was developed to handle order handling, validation of data, moving files – in short, high volume tasks. UniQue Furniture could quickly see the result of their new processes. Carsten Bundgaard elaborates that: “with a Roi (Return of Investment) of well over 100 percent, it is not to be mistaken. In the past, employees were assigned trivial and monotonous tasks, which can now be loaded and validated in 5-6 minutes – and without errors at all. “

“We were probably a bit prejudiced and thought that digitization projects cost a lot of money, take a long time to implement, and that the results, on the other hand, can only be measured in the long run. These prejudices were quickly put to shame.”
