DOT
DOT provides surface treatment, typically hot-dip galvanizing, metallization and painting. It's everything from projects like the Great Belt Bridge to stadiums. With production across countries, DOT needed an overview of huge amounts of data. We have designed a new Power BI dashboard which is user-friendly and intuitive.
Challenge: DOT lacked overview of huge, complex production data across countries and shifts because existing systems did not visualize or make data user-friendly, hampering managers' ability to make efficient, data-driven decisions.
DATA MADE DELICIOUS
The challenge was to process the large amounts of data used in production. DOT works literally around the clock and has both day and night shifts, so a system was needed that could work around the clock. The data not only had to be visualized, but also made clear and user-friendly in the new Power BI dashboard.
Power BI is a business intelligence and data visualization platform developed by Microsoft that enables users to analyze and share data in an intuitive and interactive way. Good design makes it easier for users at different levels of technical expertise to navigate, understand and leverage the data they work with, leading to more efficient and informed decisions.
the foundation of the solution
The first step was of course to visit DOT in Brande, where we were greeted by the impressive production halls. It gave us a good basic understanding of the size of the project and the production, and we clearly felt the scale we are moving on.
Important and valuable visualizations
We went all-in on a user-centered design, where we carefully selected the right visualization types that best represented the complex data sets. We wanted to design an intuitive interface that made it easy for the user to find exactly what they are looking for. This involved using clear and simple graphic elements to minimize confusion and give the look a modern twist.
