Saxo Bank

Saxo Bank wanted a learning platform that could support both internal training programs and courses for employees and customers. Today, more than 1,700 employees take courses in trading and Saxo Bank's own systems. In collaboration with KOLLAB, they have created a customized Moodle e-learning setup that reflects their vision of a modern, motivating, and effective learning environment.

Challenge: Saxo Bank had developed comprehensive training content, but the existing e-learning solution was technically limiting, difficult to further develop, and lacked interactivity, making it difficult to engage employees and ensure effective knowledge sharing across the organization.

A motivational learning platform

Before KOLLAB joined the collaboration, Saxo Bank had reached an impasse:

"When I arrived, the partners at the time hadn't really gotten anywhere. The entire learning project was dry and boring, and it took a huge leap to go from where we were then to the fulfillment of our vision," says Nicholas James Whiting, Creative Director and Global Vice President at Saxo Bank.

Therefore, the task was to transform a dry and stagnant learning platform into something modern and engaging. This required thoroughness and collaboration with KOLLAB before the vision could be realized.

Together, they created an engaging and inspiring learning experience that takes into account the fact that no two students are alike. To this end, educational videos were integrated that adapt to the context of each individual student, regardless of the media they use.

As part of the solution, KOLLAB developed the technological infrastructure for Saxo Bank's Trading Academy. The two Moodle sites were configured and integrated with Saxo Bank's existing Single Sign-On solution, based on ADFS, so that users can log in with their existing Saxo Bank account.

On the Moodle side, PHP SimpleSAML was used for integration with ADFS, ensuring a smooth and secure user experience.

An honest partner

To achieve this goal, KOLLAB has customized the appearance, functionality, and user-friendliness of Moodle so that the platform reflects Saxo Bank's vision and ambitions.

Saxo Bank drew up a roadmap for the vision, and they could subsequently applaud how ideas and notes had been translated into a living and intuitive learning system.

The solution is powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS): one of the most recognized cloud infrastructures on the market, ensuring high performance, stability, and scalability.
In addition, KOLLAB provides hosting and application support for the two Moodle sites, including 24/7 support with a one-hour response time.

The solution is continuously monitored by KOLLAB to ensure operational stability and security, in line with Saxo Bank's quality and compliance requirements.

The work process has been characterized by close dialogue, patience, and mutual understanding. Saxo Bank has had high expectations and clear requirements, and KOLLAB has met them with solutions that truly combine technology, design, and user-friendliness. Every time new opportunities have arisen, they have been seized and the challenges solved along the way.

The collaboration between the two parties is perceived as informal, straightforward, and positive. Saxo Bank wanted a close and honest relationship with their partner, and that is exactly what they have achieved.

Agility is the way forward

Saxo Bank is a publicly regulated Danish bank specializing in online trading and investment across global financial markets.

This position naturally entails a focus on quality, security, and partners who can match the bank's pace and level of ambition:

"We demand tremendous agility and flexibility, we want to experiment constantly, we push our partners hard and demand a lot from them. And KOLLAB understands this and delivers," concludes Nicholas James Whiting.
