KVUC
KVUC stood with a learning system that drained both teachers and students of energy. Along with KOLLAB, they turned resistance to motivation, and had Moodle implemented as a learning platform that actually inspires learning and makes digital teaching a success.
A system that created more resistance than motivation
At KVUC, digitization had gotten off to a rough start. A previous learning management system had created so much reluctance that even the most experienced teachers had to shrug their shoulders. It just didn't work. And when the teachers are not involved, the course participants don't get much out of it either.
At the same time, digitization was high on the Ministry of Education's agenda, and the need to find a real solution became acute.
But how to choose correctly in a jungle of platforms, features and technical details?
KVUC needed someone who could take them safely and securely through the process.
A choice grounded in data, testing and collaboration
Entering the stage is KOLLAB, which was recommended by both CBS and RUC. Together with KVUC, they made a plan: the requirements had to be uncovered, three systems had to be tested, and the users had to take center stage from start to finish.
Moodle was among the candidates and ended up running away with the win: “There are quite large initial costs to changing the system, so it should be just right. And we found that,” says Katrine Gorristen, external project manager at KVUC.
From August to March, testing, evaluation and fine-tuning was done. With KOLLAB as a technical sparring partner, all corners of Moodle were turned and turned and improved when something was limping.
Users first
KOLLAB also threw itself into one of the most overlooked, but most important, elements of digital transformations: user adoption. Because how do you get teachers who are used to blackboards and paper to throw themselves into e-learning with enthusiasm? Katrine Gorristen explains: “It's quite a big step. There wasn't much motivation, but KOLLAB changed that.”
With teaching, support and hands-on guidance, they created a new atmosphere at KVUC: “They have created a good vibe around Moodle. The teachers have wanted to use it to the full, and this affects the students. Now they have easy access to extra material and the opportunity to immerse themselves even more in their profession,” says Katrine.
A platform that works and motivates
With Moodle as a new LMS, the teachers have become curious, the students engaged, and e-learning has gone from acid duty to a learning experience. The previous skepticism has turned to increased commitment and professional strength. “It has become delicious to teach again,” says Katrine. “And this means that our students want to learn.”
... And the collaboration? It continues. Although another company was chosen to host Moodle, there was no doubt at KVUC: “We continue with KOLLAB as consultants. They are responsive, competent and easy to work with. I am happy to recommend them to others,” she concludes.
